Rules of the Ring

The Rules of Extreme Fight World

Contestants will participate in three different weight classes.

1.       Lightweight 170 lbs. and lighter

2.       Middleweight 171 lbs. to 225 lbs.

3.       Heavyweight 226 lbs. and heavier

Contestant weigh-ins will happen prior to the events.

All bouts will be judged by a panel of judges who will score the contest based on:

·         Aggression

·         Control

·         Pinfall Attempts

·         Submission Attempts

Non-Title bouts will have a twenty (20) minute time limit. If the time limit of the bout is reached, we will go to the judges’ scorecards to reach a decision.

Title bouts will have a forty-five (45) minute time limit. If the time limit of the bout is reached, we will go to the judges’ scorecards to reach a decision. If the judges rule the bout a draw, we will go into a Sudden Death overtime.

Sudden Death Overtime Rules – Title Bouts Only

Sudden Death Overtime occurs when a Title bout is determined to be a draw by the judges. The round will be ten (10) minutes in length. The contestants will square off and attempt to win the bout. If the time limit expires the judges will once again determine the winner. If the bout is still determined to be a draw the bout will continue in a Double Sudden Death Round.

Double Sudden Death Overtime Rules – Title Bouts Only

Double Sudden Death Overtime will be five (5) minutes in length. There will be a coin-flip to see who the advantage position will be to begin the round. The advantage position will then be able to choose which position they start the round in. This can be a mount position, side mount position, or a back-mount position. The disadvantage contestant will be awarded more points in the judging by escaping the position. If the round ends in the draw the bout will restart in the Double Sudden Death Overtime, but the contestants will switch advantage/disadvantage positions. The bout will continue under these rules until there is a winner.

General Rules of the Ring

Strikes to the groin are illegal and offending contestant are subject to points being deducted by the referee. Offending contestants are subject to disqualification by the referee.

Eye pokes / eye gouges are illegal and offending contestants are subject to points being deducted by the referee. Offending contestants are subject to disqualification by the referee.

The ring ropes will cause a break in a submission attempt to which the contestant has to the referee count of five (5) to break the submission hold. Failure to comply with the referee’s command to break can lead to deduction of points in the judging or disqualification.

Exiting the ring the referee will begin a count to twenty (20) the count starts as soon as a contestant exits the ring. The count will only be restarted if both contestants re-enter the ring. Failure to re-enter the ring by the referee’s count will result in a loss in the bout.

Purposely striking the referee results in disqualification.

Finish To The Bout

 A bout will end via different results:

·         Pinfall

A pinfall is scored when the contestant pins opponents’ shoulders to the mat and the referee scores a three (3) count before the contestant can lift a shoulder off of the mat.

·         Submission

A submission is scored when the contestant applies a hold to the opponent and the opponent either verbally submits, “taps out,” or is put unconscious by the hold.

·         Judge’s Decision

·         Count Out

·         Disqualification
